BIOGRAPHY OF CAROL CHAVEZ

Hello,

My name is Carol Chavez.  I am originally from Oklahoma where I graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Sociology/Psychology.  However, I did get in two years of college piano.

I began piano when I was five years old and studied through my first two years of college.  In high school I studied under Dr. Max Green, professor of piano at Langston College in Oklahoma.  I participated in many recitals and the Guild.  In adulthood, I studied jazz piano with Bill Alexander of Denver, Colorado.  I have also studied with Ms. Pam Brunson in her course for piano teachers, ‘Etudes in Artistry’.  I have also participated in Master Classes with Dr. Michael Baron for piano teachers for two years.   I have also studied privately with Dr. Michael Baron, professor of piano at Gulf Coast State University in Florida.  I love to teach piano.

I have been teaching piano for eight years.  I taught some of those years in a Yamaha Music Store in Denver, and also taught group organ lessons there as well.  I have played for churches and childrens’ choirs.

I am married with three children.  We live near Mountain Springs church.  My husband, Calvin, is a power plant mechanic.

I like to encourage my students to develop their potential, and remind them that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
